1- CARPET FEATURES
The warp and weft of this carpet are cotton, and the knots are wool yarn. The yarns are entirely hand-produced using a kirman (drop spindle). The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with madder dye, meaning natural materials. For example, to obtain the color red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this manner are called madder-dyed yarns. Carpets produced from madder-dyed yarns become brighter with use. Furthermore, this carpet is a high-quality carpet in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian carpets. Finally, approximately 225,000 hand knots were made in the weaving of this carpet.

2- HISTORY OF THE CARPET
Sultani carpets are an important part of the rich carpet weaving tradition of the Ottoman Empire. These carpets were produced especially in the 16th and 17th centuries for use in Ottoman palaces and important venues. These carpets were woven with high-quality materials and very meticulous craftsmanship. Additionally, they were specifically produced for the residences of palace dwellers and high-ranking diplomats in the Ottoman Empire, as well as for palace rooms.
These carpets generally bear traces of the cultural and artistic traditions of the Ottoman Empire. Flowers, tree motifs, geometric patterns, and figurative symbols are among the motifs used in Sultani carpets. These motifs not only reflect the aesthetic value of the carpet but also carry traces from the period in which they were woven. Today, Sultani carpets are typically produced in a way that is colorful and compatible with modern and classical style furniture.
3- CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Carpet cleaning varies depending on the material of the carpet and the type of dirt. Since this carpet is made of madder-dyed wool yarns, carpet shampoo or detergent containing chemicals should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this carpet, the affected area should first be thoroughly blotted with a paper towel; then, a white bar soap should be lathered and the area wiped with a cloth. It should also be noted that immediate action is very important when something is spilled on the carpet. If the spilled liquid remains on the carpet for a long time without being wiped, the stain will penetrate the warp and become much more difficult to remove. Finally, we recommend entrusting the washing of this carpet to a professional carpet cleaner you trust who specializes in hand-woven carpets.
