The warp and weft of this rug are cotton, and the knots are made of wool yarn. The yarns are entirely hand-spun using a spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with natural root dyes. For instance, to obtain red color, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this manner are called root-dyed yarns. Rugs made from root-dyed yarns gain a brighter appearance with use. Furthermore, this rug is of superior quality in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian rugs. Finally, approximately 225,000 hand knots were tied in the weaving of this rug.
