The warp and weft of this rug are cotton, and the knots are made of wool yarn. The yarns are entirely handmade using a spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with natural root dyes. For example, to achieve red, the wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn absorbs the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this way are called root-dyed yarns. Rugs made from root-dyed yarns gain a brighter appearance with use. Furthermore, this rug is a high-quality rug in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; this feature makes it more durable and gives it a longer lifespan compared to Persian rugs.
