The warp and weft of this rug are cotton, and the knots are made of wool yarn. The yarns are entirely produced by hand using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with natural root dyes. For example, to achieve red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn absorbs the color of the rose petal; yarns dyed in this manner are called root-dyed yarns. Rugs made from root-dyed yarns gain a brighter appearance with use. Furthermore, this rug is a top-quality rug in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian rugs. If any liquid is spilled on this rug, first thoroughly blot the affected area with a paper towel; then, lather white bar soap and wipe the area with a cloth.
