1- FEATURES OF THE RUG
The warp and weft of this rug are made of cotton, and the knots are made of wool yarn. The yarns are produced entirely by hand using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed using root dyes, that is, natural materials. For example, to obtain the color red, the wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this way are called root-dyed yarns. Rugs produced from root-dyed yarns gain a more lustrous appearance with use. On the other hand, this rug is a top-quality rug in terms of weaving density and has been woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Iranian rugs. Finally, approximately 1,930,000 hand knots were used in the weaving of this rug.

2- HISTORY OF THE RUG
Sultani rugs are an important part of the Ottoman Empire's rich rug-weaving tradition. These rugs were produced specifically to be used in Ottoman palaces and significant locations, particularly in the 16th and 17th centuries. They were woven with high-quality materials and very meticulous craftsmanship. Furthermore, they were produced exclusively for the residents of the Ottoman palace, the residences of high-ranking diplomats, and palace chambers.
These rugs generally bear traces of the Ottoman Empire's cultural and artistic traditions. Floral patterns, tree motifs, geometric designs, and figurative symbols are the motifs used in Sultani rugs. While these motifs reflect the aesthetic value of the rug, they also carry traces of the era in which they were woven. Today, Sultani rugs are generally produced in styles that harmonize with colorful, modern, and classic furniture.
3- CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Rug cleaning varies according to the material of the rug and the type of dirt. Since this rug is made of wool yarns dyed with root dyes, rug shampoos or detergents containing chemicals should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this rug, the area should first be thoroughly blotted with a paper towel; then, the area should be wiped with a cloth using the lather of a white bar soap. It should also not be forgotten that immediate intervention is crucial when something is spilled on the rug. If the spilled liquid remains on the rug for a long time without being wiped off, the stain will seep into the warp and become much harder to remove.
