1- FEATURES OF THE RUG
The warp and weft of this rug are cotton, while the knots are wool yarn. The yarns are produced entirely by hand using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used for the knots are dyed using root dyes, which means natural materials are utilized. For example, to obtain the color red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petal; yarns dyed in this way are called root-dyed yarns. Rugs produced from root-dyed yarns gain a brighter appearance the more they are used. On the other hand, this rug is of top quality in terms of weaving density and has been woven using the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Iranian rugs. Finally, approximately 225,000 hand-tied knots were made in the weaving of this rug.

2- HISTORY OF THE RUG
Sultani rugs are an important part of the Ottoman Empire's rich rug-weaving tradition. These rugs were produced primarily for use in Ottoman palaces and important venues during the 16th and 17th centuries. These rugs were woven with high-quality materials and very meticulous craftsmanship. Furthermore, they were produced specifically for the residents of the Ottoman Empire's palaces, as well as for the residences and palace rooms of high-ranking diplomats.
These rugs generally bear traces of the cultural and artistic traditions of the Ottoman Empire. Flowers, tree motifs, geometric patterns, and figurative symbols are the motifs used in Sultani rugs. While these motifs reflect the aesthetic value of the rug, they also bear traces of the era in which they were woven. Today, Sultani rugs are generally produced in styles that are colorful and compatible with both modern and classic furniture.
3-CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Rug cleaning varies depending on the material of the rug and the type of stain. Since this rug is made of wool yarns dyed with root dyes, rug shampoos or detergents containing chemical substances should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this rug, the area should first be thoroughly blotted with a paper towel; then, the area should be wiped with a cloth using white bar soap lather. It should also be remembered that immediate intervention is very important when something is spilled on the rug. If the spilled liquid remains on the rug for a long time without being wiped, the stain will penetrate the warp and become much more difficult to remove.
