1- CARPET FEATURES

The weft and warp of this carpet are cotton, and the knots are wool yarn. The yarns were also produced entirely by hand using a kirman (drop spindle). The wool yarns used in the knots were dyed with root dyes, meaning natural materials. For example, to obtain the color red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this way are called root-dyed yarns. Carpets made from root-dyed yarns acquire a brighter appearance with use. Furthermore, this carpet is a top-quality carpet in terms of weaving density and is woven using the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian carpets. Finally, approximately 1,125,000 hand knots were tied in the weaving of this carpet.

Sultani carpets are an important part of the rich carpet weaving tradition of the Ottoman Empire. 3-CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Carpet cleaning varies depending on the material of the carpet and the type of dirt. Since this carpet is made from wool yarns dyed with root dyes, chemical-containing carpet shampoos or detergents should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this carpet, the affected area should first be thoroughly blotted with a paper towel; then, a white bar soap should be lathered, and the area should be wiped with a cloth. It should also be noted that immediate intervention is very important when something is spilled on the carpet. If the spilled liquid remains on the carpet for a long time without being wiped, the stain will penetrate the warp and become much more difficult to remove.
