The warp and weft of this rug are cotton, and the knots are made of wool yarn. The yarns are entirely hand-spun using a spindle. The wool yarns used for the knots are colored with root dyes, meaning natural materials. For example, to obtain the color red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petals; such dyed yarns are called root-dyed yarns. Rugs made from root-dyed yarns become brighter with use. Furthermore, this rug is a high-quality rug in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian rugs. Finally, approximately 750,000 hand knots were tied in the weaving of this rug.
