The warp and weft of this carpet are cotton, and the knots are wool yarn. The yarns are also produced entirely by hand using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with madder, which means natural materials. For example, to obtain the color red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petal; yarns dyed in this way are called madder-dyed yarns. Carpets produced with madder-dyed yarns acquire a brighter appearance with use. On the other hand, this carpet is a high-quality carpet in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian carpets. Finally, approximately 300,000 hand knots were made in the weaving of this carpet.

2-HISTORY OF THE CARPET

The production of Vizier carpets began in the 16th century. As the name suggests, these carpets were generally used in the homes and rooms of Ottoman Viziers. These carpets, used in the palaces and residences of Viziers, reflect the aesthetic understanding of Ottoman carpet weaving. During that period, they were produced in the Uşak, Hereke, and Kayseri regions, which were centers of carpet weaving. Today, Vizier carpets, which incorporate more colorful and diverse motifs, harmonize with both modern and classic furniture.

3-CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Carpet cleaning varies depending on the material of the carpet and the type of dirt. Since this carpet is made of madder-dyed wool yarns, carpet shampoos or detergents containing chemicals should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this carpet, the affected area should first be thoroughly rinsed with a paper towel; then, a white bar soap should be lathered, and the area should be wiped with a cloth. It should also be noted that immediate intervention is very important when something is spilled on the carpet.
