1- CARPET FEATURES
The warp and weft of this carpet are cotton, and the knots are wool yarn. The yarns are also produced entirely by hand using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed using natural root dyes. For example, to achieve red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petal; yarns dyed in this manner are called root-dyed yarns. Carpets made from root-dyed yarns gain a brighter appearance with use. Furthermore, this carpet is of superior quality in terms of weaving density and is woven using the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; this feature makes it more durable and gives it a longer lifespan compared to Persian carpets. Finally, approximately 1,350,000 hand knots were tied in the weaving of this carpet.

2- HISTORY OF THE CARPET
Sultani carpets are an important part of the rich carpet weaving tradition of the Ottoman Empire. These carpets were produced especially for use in Ottoman palaces and important venues in the 16th and 17th centuries. These carpets were woven with high-quality materials and very meticulous craftsmanship. Additionally, they were specially produced for the residences and palace rooms of Ottoman palace inhabitants and high-ranking diplomats.
These carpets generally bear traces of the cultural and artistic traditions of the Ottoman Empire. Flowers, tree motifs, geometric patterns, and figurative symbols are among the motifs used in Sultani carpets. These motifs not only reflect the aesthetic value of the carpet but also carry traces from the period in which they were woven. Today, Sultani carpets are typically produced in a colorful, modern, and classic style to harmonize with furniture.
3- CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Carpet cleaning varies depending on the carpet's material and the type of stain. Since this carpet is made of wool yarns dyed with root dyes, carpet shampoos or detergents containing chemical substances should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this carpet, the affected area should first be thoroughly blotted with a paper towel; then, a white bar soap should be lathered, and the area should be wiped with a cloth. It should also be noted that immediate intervention is very important when something is spilled on the carpet. If the spilled liquid remains on the carpet without being wiped for a long time, the stain will penetrate the warp and become much more difficult to remove. Finally, we recommend that you entrust the washing of this carpet to a professional carpet cleaner whom you trust and who specializes in hand-woven carpets.
