1- FEATURES OF THE RUG
The warp and weft of this rug are made of cotton, and the knots are made of wool yarn. The threads are produced entirely by hand using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed using root dyes, which means natural materials. For example, to obtain the red color, the wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petal; threads dyed in this way are called root-dyed threads. Rugs produced from root-dyed threads acquire a brighter appearance as they are used. Furthermore, this rug is of top quality in terms of weaving density and has been woven using the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Iranian rugs. Finally, approximately 650,000 hand knots have been tied in the weaving of this rug.

2- HISTORY OF THE RUG
Sultani rugs are an important part of the Ottoman Empire's rich rug-weaving tradition. These rugs were produced primarily to be used in Ottoman palaces and important venues during the 16th and 17th centuries. These rugs were woven with high-quality materials and very meticulous craftsmanship. Moreover, they were produced specifically for palace residents, high-ranking diplomats, and their residences.
These rugs generally bear traces of the cultural and artistic traditions of the Ottoman Empire. Flowers, tree motifs, geometric patterns, and figurative symbols are motifs used in Sultani rugs. While these motifs reflect the aesthetic value of the rug, they also carry traces of the period in which they were woven. Today, Sultani rugs are generally produced in colorful styles that harmonize with both modern and classic furniture.
3- CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Rug cleaning varies depending on the rug's material and the type of dirt. Since this rug is made of wool yarns dyed with root dyes, rug shampoos or detergents containing chemicals should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this rug, the affected area should first be blotted thoroughly with a paper towel; afterwards, the area should be wiped with a cloth using the lather of a white bar soap. It should also be remembered that immediate intervention is very important when something is spilled on a rug. If the spilled liquid remains on the rug for a long time without being cleaned, the stain will penetrate the warp and become much harder to remove.
