1- CARPET FEATURES
The weft and warp of this carpet are cotton, and the knots are wool yarn. The yarns were also produced entirely by hand using a spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots were dyed using madder dye, which means natural materials. For example, to obtain the red color, the wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petal; yarns dyed in this way are called madder-dyed yarns. Carpets produced from madder-dyed yarns become brighter with use. On the other hand, this carpet is a top-quality carpet in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian carpets. Finally, approximately 1,500,000 hand knots were tied in the weaving of this carpet.

2- HISTORY OF THE CARPET
Sultani carpets are an important part of the rich carpet weaving tradition of the Ottoman Empire. These carpets were produced especially in the 16th and 17th centuries for use in Ottoman palaces and important venues. These carpets were woven with high-quality materials and very meticulous craftsmanship. Moreover, they were produced specifically for the residences of palace inhabitants and high-ranking diplomats in the Ottoman Empire and for palace rooms.
These carpets generally bear traces of the cultural and artistic traditions of the Ottoman Empire. Flowers, tree motifs, geometric patterns, and figurative symbols are the motifs used in Sultani carpets. These motifs reflect the aesthetic value of the carpet and bear traces from the period in which they were woven. Today, Sultani carpets are usually colorful, produced in a style that will harmonize with both modern and classical furniture.
3- CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Carpet cleaning varies according to the material of the carpet and the type of dirt. Since this carpet is made of madder-dyed wool yarns, carpet shampoo or detergent containing chemicals should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this carpet, the affected area should first be thoroughly blotted with a paper towel; then, the area should be wiped with a cloth, lathering white bar soap. It should also be noted that immediate intervention is very important when something is spilled on the carpet. If the spilled liquid remains on the carpet for a long time without being wiped, the stain will penetrate the warp and become much more difficult to remove. Finally, we recommend that you entrust the cleaning of this carpet to a professional carpet cleaner whom you trust and who washes hand-woven carpets.
