1- CARPET FEATURES
The warp and weft of this carpet are cotton, and the knots are wool yarn. The yarns are also produced entirely by hand using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with madder, meaning natural materials. For example, to obtain the red color, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petal; yarns dyed in this way are called madder-dyed yarns. Carpets produced from madder-dyed yarns become brighter with use. On the other hand, this carpet is a top-quality carpet in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian carpets. Finally, approximately 300,000 hand knots were made in the weaving of this carpet.

2- HISTORY OF THE CARPET
Discovered in 1949 in the monumental tombs called Pazyryk Kurgans belonging to the Huns in the Altai Mountains of Central Asia, this carpet is the oldest known knotted Turkish carpet. The Pazyryk carpet is woven using human, animal, and floral motifs that bear traces of Turkish culture. While there are four-leaf floral motifs within the squares forming the central patterns of the carpet, one of the wide borders features rows of Huns on horseback. Finally, griffon figures are located in the narrow border.
Its discovery is of great importance to archaeologists, as this carpet provides important clues as to how ancient carpet weaving and artistic expression developed. Today, the Pazyryk carpet is exhibited and researched in many museums as both an artistic and historical artifact.
3- CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Carpet cleaning varies depending on the material of the carpet and the type of dirt. Since this carpet is made of wool yarns dyed with madder, carpet shampoo or detergent containing chemical substances should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this carpet, the affected area should first be thoroughly rinsed with a paper towel; then, a bar of white soap should be foamed up and the affected area wiped with a cloth. It should also be remembered that immediate intervention is very important when something is spilled on the carpet. If the spilled liquid remains on the carpet for a long time without being wiped, the stain penetrates the warp and becomes much more difficult to remove. Finally, we recommend that you entrust the washing of this carpet to a professional carpet cleaner you trust who washes hand-woven carpets.
