1- CARPET CHARACTERISTICS
This rug's warp and weft are cotton, and the knots are wool yarn. The yarn is entirely hand-made using a spinning wheel. The wool yarn used in the knots is dyed with Vegetable Dyeds, meaning natural materials. For example, to obtain red, the wool yarn is boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petal; yarns dyed in this way are called Vegetable-dyed yarns. Rugs made from Vegetable-dyed yarns develop a brighter appearance with use. On the other hand, this rug is a high-quality rug in terms of weaving density and is woven using the Turkish knot, or double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian rugs. Finally, approximately 1,000,000 hand knots were made in the weaving of this rug.

2- THE HISTORY OF CARPETS
Sultani carpets are an important part of the rich carpet weaving tradition of the Ottoman Empire. These carpets were produced specifically for use in Ottoman palaces and important venues, particularly during the 16th and 17th centuries. They are woven with high-quality materials and meticulous craftsmanship. They were specifically made for the residences and palace chambers of Ottoman courtiers and high-ranking diplomats.
These carpets generally bear traces of the cultural and artistic traditions of the Ottoman Empire. Flowers, tree motifs, geometric patterns, and figurative symbols are the motifs used in Sultani carpets. These motifs reflect the aesthetic value of the carpet while also bearing traces of the period in which it was woven. Today, Sultani carpets are generally produced in colorful styles to complement both modern and classic furniture.
3- CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Carpet cleaning varies depending on the carpet's material and the type of dirt. Since this carpet is made from wool yarn dyed with natural dyes, chemical carpet shampoos or detergents should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this carpet, first rinse the affected area thoroughly with a paper towel; then, lather up a bar of white soap and wipe the area with a cloth. It is also important to remember that immediate action is crucial when something is spilled on the carpet. If the spilled liquid remains on the carpet for a long time without being wiped away, the stain will penetrate the warp and become much more difficult to remove. Finally, we recommend that you entrust the cleaning of this carpet to a professional carpet cleaner you trust who specializes in hand-woven carpets.
