1- CARPET FEATURES

The warp and weft of this carpet are cotton, and the knots are made of wool yarn. The yarns are entirely produced by hand using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with madder (root dyes), meaning natural materials. For example, to achieve red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this manner are called root-dyed yarns. Carpets produced from root-dyed yarns gain a brighter appearance with use. Furthermore, this carpet is a top-quality carpet in terms of weaving density and is woven using the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian carpets. Finally, approximately 450,000 hand knots were tied in the weaving of this carpet.

2- HISTORY OF THE CARPET

Sultani carpets are an important part of the rich carpet weaving tradition of the Ottoman Empire. 3- CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Carpet cleaning varies depending on the carpet's material and the type of dirt. Since this carpet is made from root-dyed wool yarns, carpet shampoos or detergents containing chemicals should not be used. If any liquid spills on this carpet, first thoroughly dry the affected area with a paper towel; then, lather white bar soap and wipe the area with a cloth. It should also be noted that immediate intervention is very important when something spills on the carpet. If the spilled liquid remains on the carpet for a long time without being wiped, the stain penetrates the warp and becomes much harder to remove.
