1- CARPET FEATURES

The warp and weft of this carpet are made of cotton, and the knots are made of wool yarn. The yarns are also entirely produced by hand using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with natural root dyes. For example, to obtain the red color, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this way are called root-dyed yarns. Carpets made from root-dyed yarns gain a brighter appearance with use. Furthermore, this carpet is a top-quality carpet in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian carpets. Finally, approximately 300,000 hand knots were made in the weaving of this carpet.

2- HISTORY OF THE CARPET

The production of Veziri carpets began in the 16th century. These carpets were generally used in the homes and rooms of Ottoman Viziers, as their name suggests. These carpets, used in the palaces and residences of viziers, reflect the aesthetic understanding of Ottoman-era carpet making. At that time, they were produced in the Uşak, Hereke, and Kayseri regions, which were centers of carpet making. Today, Veziri carpets, which contain more colorful and different motifs, adapt to both modern and classic furniture.

3- CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Carpet cleaning varies depending on the material of the carpet and the type of dirt. Since this carpet is made of wool yarns dyed with root dyes, carpet shampoo or detergent containing chemical substances should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this carpet, the affected area should first be thoroughly blotted with a paper towel; then, the area should be wiped with a cloth using foamed white bar soap. It should also be remembered that immediate intervention is very important when something is spilled on the carpet.
