1-RUG FEATURES

The warp and weft of this rug are made of cotton, and the knots are made of wool yarn. The yarns are also entirely hand-produced using a spindle (kirman). The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with natural dyes (kök boya). For example, to achieve the color red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this way are called natural-dyed yarns. Rugs made from natural-dyed yarns gain a brighter appearance with use. Furthermore, this rug is a high-quality rug in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian rugs. Finally, approximately 1,000,000 hand knots were tied in the weaving of this rug.

2-HISTORY OF THE RUG

The production of Veziri rugs began in the 16th century. These rugs were typically used in the homes and rooms of Ottoman Viziers, as their name suggests. These rugs, used in the palaces and residences of Viziers, reflect the aesthetic understanding of Ottoman-era rug making. At that time, they were produced in the Uşak, Hereke, and Kayseri regions, which were centers of rug making. Today, Veziri rugs, which feature more colorful and diverse motifs, complement both modern and classic furniture.

 

3-CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Carpet cleaning varies depending on the material of the carpet and the type of dirt. Since this rug is made of wool yarns dyed with natural dyes, chemical-containing carpet shampoos or detergents should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this rug, the affected area should first be thoroughly blotted with a paper towel; then, the area should be wiped with a cloth using lathered white bar soap. It should also be noted that immediate intervention is very important when something is spilled on the rug. If the spilled liquid remains on the rug for a long time without being wiped, the stain will penetrate the warp and become much harder to remove.
