1- FEATURES OF THE RUG
The warp and weft of this rug are made of cotton, and the knots are wool yarn. The yarns are entirely produced by hand using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with root dyes, i.e., natural materials. For example, to achieve red color, the wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this way are called root-dyed yarns. Rugs made from root-dyed yarns gain a brighter appearance with use. Furthermore, this rug is of superior quality in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian rugs. Finally, approximately 225,000 hand knots were tied in the weaving of this rug.

2- HISTORY OF THE RUG
Sultani rugs are an important part of the rich rug weaving tradition of the Ottoman Empire. These rugs were produced specifically for use in Ottoman palaces and important venues, especially in the 16th and 17th centuries. These rugs were woven with high-quality materials and very meticulous craftsmanship. Moreover, they were specially produced for the residences of palace inhabitants and high-ranking diplomats, and for palace rooms.
These rugs generally bear traces of the cultural and artistic traditions of the Ottoman Empire. Flowers, tree motifs, geometric patterns, and figurative symbols are among the motifs used in Sultani rugs. These motifs reflect the aesthetic value of the rug while also carrying traces from the period in which they were woven. Today, Sultani rugs are typically colorful and produced to harmonize with both modern and classic style furniture.
3-CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Carpet cleaning varies depending on the material of the carpet and the type of dirt. Since this rug is made of wool yarns dyed with root dye, carpet shampoo or detergent containing chemical substances should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this rug, first thoroughly blot the affected area with a paper towel; then, lather a white bar of soap and wipe the area with a cloth. It should also be remembered that immediate action is very important when something is spilled on the rug. If the spilled liquid remains on the rug for a long time without being wiped, the stain penetrates the warp and becomes much more difficult to remove. Finally, we recommend entrusting the washing of this rug to a professional rug cleaner who you trust and who specializes in hand-woven rug cleaning.
