1- CARPET FEATURES
The warp and weft of this carpet are cotton, and the knots are made of wool yarn. The yarns are entirely produced by hand using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with madder (kök boya), meaning natural materials. For example, to obtain the color red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this way are called madder-dyed yarns. Carpets made from madder-dyed yarns become brighter with use. Furthermore, this carpet is a high-quality carpet in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian carpets. Finally, approximately 1,000,000 hand knots were tied in the weaving of this carpet.

2- HISTORY OF THE CARPET
Sultani carpets are an important part of the rich carpet weaving tradition of the Ottoman Empire. These carpets were produced especially for use in Ottoman palaces and important venues in the 16th and 17th centuries. These carpets were woven with high-quality materials and very meticulous craftsmanship. Additionally, they were specially produced for the residences and palace rooms of palace residents and high-ranking diplomats of the Ottoman Empire.
These carpets generally bear traces of the cultural and artistic traditions of the Ottoman Empire. Flowers, tree motifs, geometric patterns, and figurative symbols are the motifs used in Sultani carpets. These motifs not only reflect the aesthetic value of the carpet but also bear traces from the period in which they were woven. Today, Sultani carpets are typically colorful and produced to harmonize with modern and classic style furniture.
3- CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Carpet cleaning varies depending on the carpet's material and the type of dirt. Since this carpet is made of wool yarns dyed with madder, carpet shampoos or detergents containing chemicals should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this carpet, first thoroughly blot the affected area with a paper towel; then, lather a bar of white soap and wipe the area with a cloth. It should also be remembered that immediate intervention is very important when something is spilled on the carpet. If the spilled liquid remains on the carpet for a long time without being wiped, the stain will penetrate the warp and become much more difficult to remove. Finally, we recommend having this carpet washed by a professional carpet cleaner whom you trust and who specializes in hand-woven carpets.
