1- CARPET FEATURES
The warp and weft of this carpet are cotton, and the knots are made of wool yarn. The yarns are entirely hand-spun using a kirman. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with root dyes, i.e., natural materials. For example, to obtain the color red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petal; yarns dyed in this manner are called root-dyed yarns. Carpets made from root-dyed yarns gain a brighter appearance with use. Furthermore, this carpet is of superior quality in terms of weaving density and is woven using the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian carpets. Finally, approximately 1,000,000 hand knots were made in the weaving of this carpet.

2- HISTORY OF THE CARPET
Discovered in 1949 in the Altai Mountains of Central Asia, in monumental tombs called Pazırık Kurgans belonging to the Huns, this carpet is the oldest known knotted Turkish carpet. The Pazırık carpet is woven using human, animal, and plant motifs that bear traces of Turkish culture. While four-leaf plant motifs are found within the squares forming the central patterns of the carpet, one of the wide borders features rows of Hun Turks on horseback. Finally, griffon figures are located in the narrow border.
Its discovery is of great importance to archaeologists because this carpet provides important clues about how ancient carpet weaving and artistic expression developed. Today, the Pazırık carpet is exhibited and researched in many museums as both an artistic and historical artifact.
3- CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Carpet cleaning varies depending on the carpet's material and the type of dirt. Since this carpet is made of wool yarns dyed with root dyes, carpet shampoos or detergents containing chemicals should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this carpet, the affected area should first be thoroughly rinsed with a paper towel; then, the area should be wiped with a cloth using lathered white bar soap. It should also be noted that immediate action is crucial when something is spilled on the carpet. If the spilled liquid remains on the carpet for a long time without being wiped, the stain penetrates the warp and becomes much harder to remove. Finally, we recommend entrusting the washing of this carpet to a professional carpet cleaner whom you trust and who specializes in hand-woven carpets.
