1- RUG FEATURES
The warp and weft of this rug are cotton, and the knots are made of wool yarn. The yarns are entirely produced by hand using a drop spindle (kirman). The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with natural root dyes. For example, to achieve red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn absorbs the rose petal's color; yarns dyed this way are called root-dyed yarns. Rugs made from root-dyed yarns gain a brighter appearance with use. Furthermore, this rug is of superior quality in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; this feature makes it more durable and gives it a longer lifespan compared to Persian rugs. Finally, approximately 300,000 hand-tied knots were used in the weaving of this rug.

2- CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Rug cleaning varies according to the rug's material and the type of dirt. Since this rug is made from wool yarns dyed with root dyes, chemical-containing rug shampoos or detergents should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this rug, the affected area should first be thoroughly blotted with a paper towel; then, a cloth with lathered white bar soap should be used to wipe the area. It should also be noted that immediate intervention is very important when something is spilled on the rug. If the spilled liquid remains on the rug for a long time without being wiped, the stain will penetrate the warp and become much more difficult to remove. Finally, we recommend having this rug cleaned by a professional rug cleaner whom you trust and who specializes in hand-knotted rugs. If you reside in Istanbul, you can contact us for rug cleaning.
