1- CHARACTERISTICS OF THE RUG
The warp and weft of this rug are made of cotton, and the knots are made of wool yarn. The yarns are entirely produced by hand using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with madder (root dye), meaning natural materials. For example, to achieve the color red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petal; yarns dyed in this manner are called madder-dyed yarns. Rugs made from madder-dyed yarns gain a brighter appearance with use. Furthermore, this rug is a high-quality rug in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian rugs. Finally, approximately 225,000 hand knots were tied in the weaving of this rug.

2- CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Rug cleaning varies according to the material of the rug and the type of stain. Since this rug is made of wool yarns dyed with madder (root dye), chemical-containing rug shampoo or detergent should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this rug, the affected area should first be thoroughly blotted with a paper towel; then, a white bar soap should be lathered and wiped with a cloth over the affected area. It should also be noted that immediate intervention is very important when something spills on the rug. If the spilled liquid remains on the rug for a long time without being wiped, the stain penetrates the warp and becomes much more difficult to remove. Finally, we recommend that you entrust the washing of this rug to a professional rug cleaner whom you trust and who washes hand-woven rugs. If you reside in Istanbul, you can contact us for rug cleaning.
