1-RUG FEATURES
The warp and weft of this rug are made of cotton, and the knots are wool yarn. The yarns are entirely produced by hand using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with madder (root dye), which means natural materials. For example, to obtain the red color, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petal; yarns dyed in this way are called madder-dyed yarns. Rugs made from madder-dyed yarns gain a brighter appearance with use. On the other hand, this rug is a high-quality rug in terms of weaving density and is woven using the Turkish knot, or double knot, technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian rugs. Finally, approximately 900,000 hand knots were made in the weaving of this rug.

2-CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Rug cleaning varies according to the material of the rug and the type of dirt. Since this rug is made of wool yarns dyed with madder, rug shampoo or detergent containing chemicals should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this rug, the affected area should first be thoroughly rinsed with a paper towel; then, white bar soap should be lathered up and the affected area should be wiped with a cloth. It should also be remembered that immediate intervention is very important when something is spilled on the rug. If the spilled liquid remains on the rug for a long time without being wiped off, the stain will penetrate the warp and become much more difficult to remove. Finally, we recommend that you entrust the cleaning of this rug to a professional rug cleaner whom you trust and who cleans hand-woven rugs. If you live in Istanbul, you can contact us for rug cleaning.
