The warp and weft of this rug are cotton, and the knots are made of wool yarn. The yarns are entirely produced using a spindle by hand. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with natural dyes, also known as madder dyes. For example, to obtain the color red, the wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this way are called madder-dyed yarns. Rugs made from madder-dyed yarns gain a brighter appearance with use. Furthermore, this rug is a high-quality rug in terms of weaving density and is woven using the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian rugs. Finally, approximately 1,275,000 hand-knots were made in the weaving of this rug.

2-CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Carpet cleaning varies depending on the material of the carpet and the type of dirt. Since this rug is made of madder-dyed wool yarns, carpet shampoos or detergents containing chemicals should not be used. If any liquid spills on this rug, the affected area should first be thoroughly blotted with a paper towel; then, the area should be wiped with a cloth, lathering white bar soap. It should also be noted that immediate intervention is very important when something spills on the rug. If the spilled liquid remains on the rug for a long time without being wiped, the stain will penetrate the warp and become much harder to remove.
