This rug's warp and weft are cotton, and the knots are wool yarn. The yarn is entirely hand-made using a spinning wheel. The wool yarn used in the knots is dyed with Vegetable Dyeds, meaning natural materials. For example, to obtain red, the wool yarn is boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petal; yarns dyed in this way are called root-dyed yarns. Rugs made from root-dyed yarns develop a brighter appearance with use. On the other hand, this rug is a high-quality rug in terms of weaving density and is woven using the Turkish knot, or double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian rugs. Finally, approximately 350,000 hand knots were made in the weaving of this rug.

2- THE HISTORY OF CARPETS
The origins of Uşak carpets date back to the 15th century. During this period, carpet weaving and textile arts began to spread in the Ottoman Empire, and Uşak became an important carpet production center. Also during this time, thanks to the right to trade granted to ambassadors who came to the country as a result of the capitulations, Uşak carpets began to be recognized abroad.
Uşak carpets gained significant importance during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent, and new qualities and patterns unique to Uşak were woven by special weavers brought from the Azerbaijan region by Sultan Suleiman. These patterns were designed by decorative artists and painters. Today, Uşak carpets are still used in homes and are also displayed in palaces and museums.
