1- CARPET FEATURES
The warp and weft of this carpet are cotton, and the knots are wool yarn. The yarns are also produced entirely by hand using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with root dyes, i.e., natural materials. For example, to obtain the red color, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this way are called root-dyed yarns. Carpets made from root-dyed yarns gain a brighter appearance with use. Furthermore, this carpet is a top-quality carpet in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian carpets. Finally, approximately 350,000 hand knots were tied in the weaving of this carpet.

2- HISTORY OF THE CARPET
The emergence of Uşak carpets dates back to the 15th century. During this period in the Ottoman Empire, carpet making and weaving arts began to spread, and with this period, Uşak became an important carpet production center. Also, during this period, thanks to the right to trade granted to ambassadors who came to the country as a result of the capitulations that began then, our Uşak carpets began to appear abroad.
Uşak carpets gained significant importance during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent, and new qualities and patterns specific to Uşak were woven with special weaving masters brought by Suleiman the Magnificent from the Azerbaijan region. These patterns were designed by ornamental artists and painters. Today, our Uşak carpets are still used in homes; they are also exhibited in palaces and museums.
3-CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Carpet cleaning varies depending on the material of the carpet and the type of dirt. Since this carpet is made of wool yarns dyed with root dyes, carpet shampoo or detergent containing chemical substances should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this carpet, the affected area should first be thoroughly blotted with a paper towel; then, white bar soap should be lathered, and the affected area wiped with a cloth. It should also be remembered that in case of a spill on the carpet, immediate intervention is very important. If the spilled liquid remains on the carpet for a long time without being wiped, the stain will penetrate the warp and become much more difficult to remove. Finally, we recommend having this carpet washed by a professional carpet cleaner whom you trust and who specializes in hand-woven carpets. If you reside in Istanbul, you can contact us for carpet cleaning.
