1- CARPET FEATURES
The warp and weft of this carpet are cotton, and the knots are wool yarn. The yarns are entirely hand-produced using a spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with natural dyes, also known as madder dyes. For example, to achieve red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn absorbs the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this manner are called madder-dyed yarns. Carpets made from madder-dyed yarns become brighter with use. Furthermore, this carpet is a high-quality carpet in terms of weaving density and is woven using the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; this feature makes it more durable and gives it a longer lifespan compared to Persian carpets. Finally, approximately 600,000 hand knots were tied in the weaving of this carpet.

2- HISTORY OF THE CARPET
Discovered in 1949 in the monumental tombs called Pazyryk Kurgans, belonging to the Huns in the Altai Mountains of Central Asia, this carpet is the oldest known knotted Turkish carpet. The Pazyryk carpet was woven using human, animal, and plant motifs that bear traces of Turkish culture. While the squares forming the central patterns of the carpet contain four-leaf floral motifs, one of the wide borders features rows of Hun Turks on horseback. Finally, griffon figures are located in the narrow border.
Its discovery is of great importance to archaeologists because this carpet provides significant clues about how ancient carpet weaving and artistic expression developed. Today, the Pazyryk carpet is exhibited and researched in many museums as both an artistic and historical artifact.
3- CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Carpet cleaning varies depending on the carpet's material and the type of dirt. Since this carpet is made of wool yarns dyed with madder dyes, carpet shampoo or detergent containing chemical substances should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this carpet, the affected area should first be thoroughly blotted with a paper towel; then, the area should be wiped with a cloth using lathered white bar soap. It should also be noted that immediate action is very important when something is spilled on the carpet. If the spilled liquid remains on the carpet for a long time without being wiped, the stain penetrates the warp and becomes much harder to remove. Finally, we recommend entrusting the washing of this carpet to a professional carpet cleaner whom you trust and who specializes in hand-woven carpets.
