1- CARPET FEATURES
The warp and weft of this carpet are cotton, and the knots are made of wool yarn. The yarns are entirely produced by hand using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used for the knots are dyed with natural root dyes. For example, to achieve the red color, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this way are called root-dyed yarns. Carpets made from root-dyed yarns become brighter with use. Furthermore, this carpet is a top-quality carpet in terms of weaving density, woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; this feature makes it more durable and gives it a longer lifespan compared to Persian carpets. Finally, approximately 450,000 hand knots were tied in the weaving of this carpet.

2- HISTORY OF THE CARPET
Sultani carpets are an important part of the rich carpet weaving tradition of the Ottoman Empire. These carpets were produced especially for use in Ottoman palaces and important venues in the 16th and 17th centuries. These carpets were woven with high-quality materials and very meticulous craftsmanship. Moreover, they were produced specifically for the residences of Ottoman palace inhabitants and high-ranking diplomats, and for palace rooms.
These carpets generally bear traces of the cultural and artistic traditions of the Ottoman Empire. Flowers, tree motifs, geometric patterns, and figurative symbols are the motifs used in Sultani carpets. These motifs not only reflect the aesthetic value of the carpet but also bear traces from the period in which they were woven. Today, Sultani carpets are generally produced in colorful, modern, and classic styles to harmonize with furniture.
3- CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Carpet cleaning varies depending on the carpet's material and the type of dirt. Since this carpet is made from wool yarns dyed with root dye, carpet shampoo or detergent containing chemicals should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this carpet, the affected area should first be thoroughly blotted with a paper towel; then, white bar soap should be lathered up and the area wiped with a cloth. It should also be remembered that immediate intervention is very important when something is spilled on the carpet. If the spilled liquid remains on the carpet for a long time without being wiped, the stain will penetrate the warp and become much harder to remove. Finally, we recommend entrusting the cleaning of this carpet to a professional carpet cleaner you trust who specializes in hand-knotted carpets.
