1-FEATURES OF THE RUG

The weft and warp of this rug are cotton, while the knots are wool yarn. The yarns were produced entirely by hand using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots were dyed using madder, which means natural materials. For instance, to obtain the red color, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the petals; yarns dyed in this way are called madder-dyed yarns. Rugs produced from madder-dyed yarns gain a more lustrous appearance as they are used. On the other hand, this rug is of top quality in terms of knot density and was woven using the Turkish knot technique, also known as the double knot; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian rugs. Finally, approximately 1,350,000 hand knots were tied in the weaving of this rug.

2-CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Rug cleaning varies depending on the material of the rug and the type of stain. Since this rug is made of wool yarns dyed with madder, carpet shampoos or detergents containing chemicals should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this rug, the affected area should first be blotted thoroughly with a paper towel; then, white bar soap should be lathered and the area wiped with a cloth. It should also be noted that immediate intervention is crucial when something is spilled on the rug. If the spilled liquid remains on the rug for a long time without being cleaned, the stain will seep into the warp, making it much more difficult to remove.
