1- CARPET FEATURES

The warp and weft of this carpet are cotton, and the knots are made of wool yarn. The yarns are also entirely handmade using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with natural dyes, i.e., natural materials. For example, to obtain the color red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this manner are called root-dyed yarns. Carpets made from root-dyed yarns become brighter with use. On the other hand, this carpet is a high-quality carpet in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian carpets. Finally, approximately 450,000 hand knots were made in the weaving of this carpet.

2- HISTORY OF THE CARPET

The production of Vizier carpets began in the 16th century. These carpets were generally used in the homes and rooms of Ottoman Viziers, as their name suggests. These carpets, used in the palaces and residences of Viziers, reflect the aesthetic understanding of Ottoman-era carpet making. At that time, they were produced in the Uşak, Hereke, and Kayseri regions, which were centers of carpet making. Today, Vizier carpets, which contain more colorful and diverse motifs, harmonize with both modern and classic furniture.

3- CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Carpet cleaning varies depending on the material of the carpet and the type of dirt. Since this carpet is made of wool yarns dyed with natural dyes, carpet shampoo or detergent containing chemical substances should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this carpet, the affected area should first be thoroughly blotted with a paper towel; then, white bar soap should be lathered up and the affected area wiped with a cloth. It should also be noted that immediate intervention is very important when something is spilled on the carpet. If the spilled liquid remains on the carpet for a long time without being wiped, the stain will penetrate the warp and become much more difficult to remove.
