The warp and weft of this rug are cotton, and the knots are wool yarn. The yarns are entirely handmade using a drop spindle. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with natural root dyes. For example, to achieve red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this way are called root-dyed yarns. Rugs made from root-dyed yarns become brighter with use. Furthermore, this rug is a high-quality rug in terms of weaving density and is woven with a Turkish knot, also known as a double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian rugs. Finally, approximately 350,000 hand knots were made in the weaving of this rug.
