The warp and weft of this rug are made of cotton, and its knots are made of wool yarn. The yarns are entirely produced by hand using a kirman (drop spindle). The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed with madder, meaning natural dyes. For example, to obtain the color red, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals, and the yarn takes on the color of the rose petals; yarns dyed in this manner are called madder-dyed yarns. Rugs made from madder-dyed yarns become brighter with use. Furthermore, this rug is a high-quality rug in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, also known as the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer lifespan compared to Persian rugs. Finally, approximately 210,000 hand knots were tied in the weaving of this rug.

2-CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Rug cleaning varies depending on the material of the rug and the type of dirt. Since this rug is made from madder-dyed wool yarns, chemical-containing carpet shampoo or detergent should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this rug, the affected area should first be thoroughly blotted with a paper towel; then, a cloth should be used to wipe the area with lathered white bar soap. It should also be noted that immediate action is very important when something spills on the rug. If the spilled liquid remains on the rug for a long time without being wiped, the stain will penetrate the warp and become much more difficult to remove.
