1- FEATURES OF CARPET
The weft and warp of this carpet are cotton knots made of wool yarn. The yarns are also produced entirely by hand using kirman. The wool yarns used in the knots are dyed using natural materials, namely madder. For example, to obtain the red color, wool yarns are boiled with rose petals and the yarn takes the color of the rose petal; yarns dyed in this way are called madder dyed yarns. Carpets produced from yarns dyed with madder dye have a brighter appearance with use. On the other hand, this carpet is a high-quality carpet in terms of weaving density and is woven with the Turkish knot, in other words, the double knot technique; thanks to this feature, it is more durable and has a longer life compared to Persian carpets. Finally, approximately 3,000,000 hand knots were tied in the weaving of this carpet.

2- HISTORY OF CARPET
Güllüce carpets are an important part of the rich carpet weaving tradition of the Ottoman Empire. These carpets were produced especially in the 16th and 17th centuries for use in Ottoman palaces and important places. These carpets were woven with high quality materials and very meticulous workmanship. However, they were specially produced for the residences and palace rooms of the Ottoman Empire's palace residents and high-ranking diplomats.
These carpets generally bear traces of the cultural and artistic traditions of the Ottoman Empire. Flowers, tree motifs, geometric patterns and figurative symbols are the motifs used in Güllüce carpets. These motifs reflect the aesthetic value of the carpet and bear traces of the period in which it was woven. Today, Güllüce carpets are generally produced in a colorful style that will match modern and classical style furniture.
3-CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Carpet cleaning varies depending on the material of the carpet and the type of dirt. Since this carpet is made of wool yarns dyed with root dye, carpet shampoo or detergent containing chemicals should not be used. If any liquid is spilled on this carpet, the relevant part should first be rinsed thoroughly with a paper towel; then, the relevant part should be foamed with white bar soap and wiped with a cloth. It should also be remembered that emergency intervention is very important when something is spilled on the carpet. If the spilled liquid remains on the carpet for a long time without being wiped, the stain will sink into the warp and become much more difficult to remove. Finally, we recommend that you have this carpet washed by a professional carpet washer that you trust and who washes hand-woven carpets. If you live in Istanbul, you can contact us for carpet washing.
